The Desert Mountain SELPA's Career Technical Education (CTE) team would like to welcome the local education agencies (LEAs) back to a wonderful 2023/24 school year. The CTE team will host their annual TPP Beginning-of-the-Year Meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Brad Butler II, an athlete turned student success and retention specialist, a highly sought-after multi-award-winning international school and youth motivational speaker, author, and educational consultant will be speaking. Brad’s goal is to help our youth become the best version of themselves and encourage everyone to take full advantage of opportunities, living by his motto: “Make your next day your best day.” Topics will include:
- H.O.P.E. Is My Superpower.
- IEP’S To Degrees - How Brad worked his way through 10 years of the Special Education system to ultimately graduate with a master’s degree. The audience will learn that your obstacles do not determine your outcome.
- We Regret to Inform You - A Letter to Adversity.
- Student Success.
Our ultimate goal as educators and transition providers is to help students reach their full potential and be prepared for life after high school. To achieve this, we must connect with their hearts and minds. We will discuss different communication styles, how school and workplace cultures affect everyone, and how mental health directly affects student performance in the workplace.
In addition, contract goals will be reviewed with the TPP and WAI staff, and participants will have an opportunity to discuss workshops and paid work experience opportunities for the 2023/24 school year.
